Friday, October 1

It was a pretty chill week…and now I'm on VACATION!

I am off, for the October holiday, until October 18!!! And Roman's last day of teaching is October 8...and then he doesn't have to teach until November. We are planning a beach vacation...but I'll have more to share on that soon. In the meantime, our pool just opened and we're happy to be getting a break from work!

I also bought myself quite a few dresses on Friday. I kinda can't believe I bought so many, but I found a very cute vintage shop in Terminal 21 and I haven't bought myself new clothes in over a year and, well, it was kind of my birthday present to myself. The clothing store posted a bunch of pics of me trying on the dresses on their Instagram, so here are some pics (I dind't buy all the dresses. I did buy five of them).

And here's a non-vintage, very Thai dress I also got at the mall

I took a handful of other photos this week...here’s a skink, sunning itself on a bush…

It skinked away when I got too close…

And here are some meals I had at Pier 21…

Chicken curry with roti

Vegetarian meal: cabbage, vegetarian larb, and greens

Here's a little quiche I made, using rice (bound with egg whites) as the crust..

And here's a lunch of egg noodles, king oyster mushrooms, and duck chicharrones...

And this is the kind of thing I eat when I eat alone--sushi from Gourmet Market and two tiny pieces of cake:

And...that's it for now!

Check out this sunset, yo!

  1. What are duck chicharrones? The pics are so nice—I see a common element in the dresses—cool and waisted and you

    1. Thanks, Mama! The dresses definitely had a similar vibe. It was actually getting such a cute dress from you for my bday that made me realize it was time for me to get some more, better-made dresses (most of mine are old and kinda falling apart. I still have the ones from our London trip!). And…I don’t know if they’re technically chicharrones, but I got duck skins at the market and then just baked them in the oven until they got super crispy—kinda like fried pork skins. Roman loves them and I love all the duck fat I can collect afterwards.
